Cloud-based services serve healthcare clients in large numbers, and secure systems are fundamental to their business model. A smaller healthcare organization would struggle to fund the type of system they can access by using an Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) or Software as a Service (SaaS) solution, which illuminates why about 83% of IT healthcare organizations are leveraging one of these two solutions. Employing an IaaS or SaaS solution can also save on staffing.

A Solution to Merging Organizations

When organizations merge, they bring legacy systems with them. Starting from scratch brings enormous expense at a moment when everyone’s trying to hold down costs. But a cloud-based API and SaaS solutions can get existing systems talking to each other, and for a lower price than ripping existing systems out by the roots. As organizations realize this, it’s contributing to the uptick in cloud adoption.

Patient Appeal

When surveyed as to what they like about the cloud, healthcare organizations had a wide variety of answers. But their top three positives were that the cloud beefed up their technological edge, provided them with ongoing metrics (financial in particular), and greatly increased the speed at which solutions could be implemented. All of these are topics we’ve touched on in other blogs, and we’ve connected them back to patient satisfaction. Our patients have largely adopted the cloud. They use it to track their banking, make major purchases, and do research. They’re accustomed to quick, robust applications. Healthcare is embracing the cloud in order to keep pace with other industries.
